Hotel Revenue Management Insider: A Private Forum for Revenue Professionals

Hotel Revenue Management Insider: A Private Forum for Revenue Professionals

A private, moderated forum where hotel revenue professionals can ask questions, share experience, and discuss commercial strategies using pseudonyms, without identifying themselves or their properties.

Revenue managers make decisions about pricing, restrictions, forecasts, and distribution every day. The right approach depends on the property, market, business mix, and demand.

Lowering rates may help increase occupancy, but will it improve revenue? A minimum stay restriction may protect peak nights, but how will it affect the rest of the week? A marketing campaign may generate bookings, but how much of that business is additional?

These are useful questions to discuss with other professionals. It helps to understand what others have tried, what results they received, and what they would do differently.

However, discussing these situations publicly is not always comfortable. You may want to question a strategy, ask for advice, or share an unsuccessful experience without identifying yourself or your hotel.

That is why I created Hotel Revenue Management Insider, a private forum where hotel revenue professionals can ask questions, exchange experience, and discuss practical commercial challenges.

What can you discuss?

Pricing, forecasting, distribution, marketing, ecommerce, and commercial strategies.

For example:

  • How do you determine whether a restriction improved performance?
  • What have you tried when lower rates did not help fill weak shoulder nights?
  • How do you explain a forecast revision during a revenue strategy call?
  • What results have you seen after changing your channel mix?
  • How do you measure whether a marketing campaign generated additional business?
  • Which changes to your website or booking engine improved conversion?
  • How do you prepare for an ownership meeting when performance is below expectations?

Members can start their own topics, ask questions, and participate in existing discussions. Share a successful approach, discuss a decision that did not produce the expected result, or ask how others have handled a similar situation.

What works for one hotel may not work for another. The goal is to understand the reasoning, conditions, and results behind different approaches.

How participation works

Membership is by invitation only, and discussions are moderated. The goal is to create a professional environment where members feel comfortable sharing experience and asking questions.

Members use a consistent pseudonym instead of their real name. Posts must not identify a hotel, brand, or individual. Screenshots from revenue management systems or property management systems are not permitted.

General context is useful. You can describe the property type, demand patterns, or business mix without sharing details that would identify the hotel.

Members are expected to respect each other’s privacy and keep discussions constructive. The full guidelines are available on the forum.

Who is it for?

Revenue managers, directors of revenue, commercial leaders, and professionals working in marketing, ecommerce, distribution, and finance.

Vendors may join by invitation only as observers. Sales pitches are not permitted.

How to join

  1. Follow the invitation link below.
  2. Create your Discourse account and choose a pseudonym.
  3. Read the guidelines, then start a topic or join a discussion.

I created Hotel Revenue Insights to share useful knowledge about the hospitality industry. With Hotel Revenue Management Insider, I want to make that exchange more interactive and give members a place to discuss the questions they face in their own work.
